Πάφος

Paphos is one of the most historic and scenic regions of Cyprus, located along the island’s western coastline. Known for its archaeological heritage, coastal beauty, traditional villages and deep cultural identity, the region has long been connected to the history and mythology of Cyprus.

The district combines Mediterranean beaches, vineyards, mountainous landscapes and protected natural areas, including the Akamas Peninsula and the Paphos Forest. The region is internationally recognized for its archaeological significance, with the city of Paphos designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its ancient mosaics, tombs and historical landmarks.

Paphos is also closely linked to Cypriot mythology through Petra tou Romiou, traditionally associated with the birthplace of Aphrodite. Today, the region remains an important center of Cypriot culture, tourism and community life, while maintaining strong emotional and cultural connections with the global Cypriot diaspora.
