Pontiaki Estia Krefeld

Pontiaki Estia Krefeld is a Pontic Greek cultural association based at Quartelnstraße 13 in Krefeld, Germany. Founded by Panagiotis Papadopoulos, the association brings together descendants of Greeks from the Pontus region living in Krefeld and the surrounding area. With a history spanning more than three decades, it is dedicated to preserving Pontic cultural heritage and passing its traditions on to future generations.

The association's activities focus on maintaining the language, music, dances, cuisine and customs of Pontic Greeks. Through traditional dance rehearsals, cultural participation, shared cooking traditions and the exchange of stories, members have opportunities to explore their roots and keep their cultural identity alive. These activities connect different generations through familiar traditions while encouraging younger members to discover their family's cultural background.

Pontiaki Estia Krefeld also promotes cultural understanding and integration into German society. Its philosophy recognises that maintaining a connection to one's heritage can coexist with openness towards other cultures. By encouraging knowledge, mutual respect and cultural exchange, the association brings together the preservation of Pontic traditions and participation in wider society.

Membership and participation are not restricted to people of Pontic Greek descent. Individuals from other backgrounds are welcome to join the association, take part in traditional dance rehearsals and learn about Pontic culture. Through its inclusive approach and commitment to cultural continuity, Pontiaki Estia Krefeld provides a meeting point for people interested in Pontic heritage, traditional dance and shared cultural experiences.
