Theatrikon e.V.

Theatrikon e.V. is a Greek theatre association based in Hamburg, Germany, founded on 9 November 1994 through the initiative of Nikos Vousvoukis. The association was established to promote and support the performing arts, with particular emphasis on Greek and European theatre. From its beginnings, Theatrikon has combined theatrical creativity with the preservation and active use of the Greek language among Greeks living in Germany.

The group's first production was Ploutos by Aristophanes, which premiered at the Altonaer Theater in Hamburg on 13 May 1995. Its artistic activities have since encompassed a variety of theatrical works, including productions for children, demonstrating an interest in different audiences and forms of dramatic expression. The association's documented repertoire includes 17 productions, four of them intended for children.

Beyond conventional theatre performances, Theatrikon has explored other forms of artistic and literary presentation. Its activities have included a Greek-German poetry reading in 2011, a staged fairy-tale narration in 2012 and a tribute to Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis in 2014. These projects reflect the association's broader interest in Greek literature, music and cultural heritage alongside European theatrical traditions.

Theatrikon e.V. regards theatre as an opportunity for creative participation, linguistic expression and cultural exchange. Through rehearsals, performances and collaborative artistic activities, the association contributes to the presence of Greek-language theatre in Hamburg while connecting Greek cultural heritage with the wider European performing arts tradition.
