Nonna & Yiayia – Cairns

George Kapiniaris and James Liotta bring Nonna & Yiayia to Cairns with a comedy show built around Greek and Italian family life, multicultural Australia and the familiar clash of generations. The performance combines stand-up, character sketches, songs and audience participation, with Kapiniaris drawing heavily on his Greek heritage and Liotta on his Italian-Australian background. Their Yiayia and Nonna characters turn family habits, cultural expectations and shared Mediterranean humour into a fast-moving live show that plays on both the similarities and differences between the two communities. The result is a distinctly Greek-Italian Australian comedy night designed for audiences who recognise the family dynamics behind the jokes.
