The Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York Inc. is one of the largest and most influential Greek American nonprofit organizations in the United States. Based in New York City, the Federation is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and celebrating Greek heritage while strengthening the bonds of the Greek American community through cultural, educational, and philanthropic initiatives.
Representing more than 200 member societies, the Federation brings together organizations of Greek ancestry that share a commitment to preserving Hellenic traditions and supporting future generations. Through scholarship and grant programs, it provides educational opportunities for deserving Greek American students while encouraging community involvement and leadership.
The Federation is internationally recognized as the organizer of New York City's annual Greek Independence Day Parade on Fifth Avenue, the largest celebration of Greek American heritage in the world. Since 1938, this landmark event has honored Greece's independence while showcasing the rich history, culture, and achievements of the Greek American community. Additional annual initiatives include the Federation Gala Dinner, the Greek Flag Raising Ceremony at Bowling Green, and numerous cultural and commemorative events.
Entirely supported by volunteers and its member organizations, the Federation continues to serve as a unifying voice for Hellenic organizations across Greater New York, promoting education, cultural pride, civic engagement, and the enduring values of Hellenism in the United States.
