Mezetaki

Mezetaki is a family-run Greek deli and restaurant in Senderwood, Johannesburg, South Africa, founded by Taki Betsakos in 2000. Originally established as a delicatessen, the business expanded into a restaurant in 2010. In 2020, the next generation of the family, Vasili, Tina and George, took over, continuing its development as a destination for Greek food, traditional bakery specialities and imported groceries.

The deli offers a broad selection of Greek products alongside freshly prepared food and baked goods. Traditional favourites include spanakopita, tiropita, bread, tsoureki and loukoumades. Its grocery selection features hundreds of products, with a strong emphasis on imported specialities and ingredients associated with Greek cooking.

Mezetaki also maintains close connections with Greek cultural traditions, preparing seasonal foods associated with important celebrations throughout the year. Combining family heritage, Greek deli culture, restaurant dining and traditional baking, Mezetaki provides a familiar taste of Greece for the Greek diaspora and wider Johannesburg community.
