Thrakes

Thrakes is a Greek cultural association based in Esslingen am Neckar, Germany, dedicated to preserving and promoting the traditions and cultural heritage of Thrace. Known as Thrakischer Kulturverein Esslingen “Thrakes”, the association connects generations of Greeks abroad through traditional dance, music, folklore and cultural activities.

The association focuses on Thracian folk traditions, including regional dances, traditional music, language and cultural customs. Through rehearsals, performances, educational initiatives and cultural celebrations, Thrakes encourages children, young people and adults to discover and maintain connections with their ancestral heritage.

Its activities bring together families, performers and supporters of Greek culture through social gatherings, cultural events and participation in local and international celebrations. These occasions promote cultural exchange, intergenerational participation and the continuation of Thracian traditions within the Greek diaspora.

Thrakes contributes to the cultural life of Esslingen and the surrounding region by celebrating the history, artistic traditions and identity of Thracian Hellenism. The association provides a welcoming environment for people interested in Greek folklore, traditional dance and cultural heritage.
