You Can’t See Speed – Perth

Greek-Australian artist Tina Stefanou transforms PICA’s Central Gallery through an immersive combination of moving image, sound, sculpture and live performance. Developed through her long-term collaboration with blind motorcycle mechanic and rider Matthew Cassar, You Can’t See Speed explores speed, risk, trust, class and different ways of sensing the world beyond vision. Cassar’s voice and motorcycles are woven together with song, flugelhorns, industrial structures and large-scale audiovisual elements, turning the gallery into an environment shaped as much by sound and vibration as by image. The opening weekend also includes a live activation by Stefanou, extending the work from installation into performance and bringing audiences directly into its world of movement, voice and sensation.
