The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) is a nonprofit public policy and advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to strengthening the relationship between the United States, Greece, Cyprus, and the broader Eastern Mediterranean region. Founded in 1974, AHI promotes the rule of law, democratic values, and informed civic engagement through public policy, education, and advocacy.
Since its establishment, the Institute has served as a leading voice on issues affecting U.S. relations with Greece, Cyprus, and Southeastern Europe. Through research, policy initiatives, educational programs, public affairs, and strategic advocacy, AHI works to inform policymakers, community leaders, and citizens about developments that impact Hellenic interests and regional stability.
Beyond its advocacy efforts, the American Hellenic Institute functions as a respected think tank, educational foundation, business network, and forum for dialogue. It encourages active citizen participation and promotes greater understanding of Hellenic history, democracy, and international affairs while fostering stronger ties between the United States and the Hellenic world.
Guided by the principles of civic responsibility and democratic engagement, AHI continues to play an important role in public policy discussions, leadership development, and the promotion of cooperation between the United States, Greece, Cyprus, and the global Hellenic community.
