Greek Community of Melbourne

The Greek Community of Melbourne is Australia's oldest Greek community organisation and one of the oldest Greek diaspora organisations in the world. Established in 1897, the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne & Victoria (GCM) has played a central role in preserving Greek heritage while supporting the religious, cultural, educational, and social needs of the Greek Australian community for more than a century.

As the peak Greek organisation in Melbourne, the Community promotes Greek language, history, and culture through a wide range of educational programs. Its activities include Greek language afternoon schools, Ancient and Modern Greek language courses, educational seminars, cultural events, and community initiatives that serve people of all ages and backgrounds.

The Community is also responsible for many of Melbourne's most significant Greek cultural institutions and events, including The Greek Centre, educational programs, exhibitions, lectures, performances, and festivals that celebrate the enduring contribution of Greek Australians to Victoria's multicultural society.
