Dr Christopher Gribbin introduces the development of ancient Greek philosophy across five sessions, tracing how Greek thinkers created new ways of approaching knowledge, morality and the fundamental questions of human life. The course begins with the Milesians, Heraclitus, Zeno, the Mystics and the Sophists before moving through Socrates, Plato, the Skeptics and Cynics, and Aristotle. The final session turns to Epicurean and Stoic ideas about how to live a good life. Presented as part of the Hellenic Museum’s 2027 Summer School, the programme offers a clear overview of the major philosophical traditions and the enduring questions they raised, with participation available both in person and online.
